Why I Stopped Building Alone

> Reason 46 — A team that can lose one person and keep shipping is worth more than a team that can't.

Everything I've built started as one person's decision — the number, the name, the first line of every venture. But Stack46, the engineering side of what I do, isn't one person. It's me, a developer, and a tester. Small on purpose, but not solo, and that distinction matters more than the headcount does.

What changes when it's not just you

For a long time, everything ran through me — every technical decision, every fix, every deploy. That works right up until it doesn't: the moment you're sick, or stretched across five ventures instead of one, and something needs to ship anyway. I didn't build a team because it looks better. I built one because a live courier platform doesn't get to wait for one person's calendar to clear.

I learned it from the inside first, building this ecosystem, before I ever wrote it down as advice for someone else's project.

Small, not solo

I'm not going to pretend Stack46 is a large team, because it isn't, and pretending otherwise would break the one rule I actually care about here: nothing goes out that isn't true. It's a founder, a developer, and a tester. What that buys, even at that size, is real: someone else who understands the code well enough to keep a live platform running if I'm not the one looking at it that day.
