Why I Didn't Start Route46 From Scratch

Route46 Couriers, part of FourSix46®, wasn't built from a blank page. It came to us as someone else's codebase — a live UK courier platform, already booking deliveries, already matching drivers, already somebody's real business. We took it over, enhanced it, and re-deployed it. I want to explain why that's not a lesser story than starting from zero, because I think it's actually the more honest one.

The instinct to always start fresh

There's a particular kind of pride in building something from nothing — I understand it, because most of what I've built carries that instinct too. But "start from scratch" is sometimes just fear of inheriting someone else's decisions, dressed up as a preference. A live platform, already serving real customers, is a head start most new ventures don't get. Refusing it because it wasn't originally yours is a strange kind of waste.

So when the opportunity to take on Route46 Couriers came up, the question wasn't "do we rebuild this from zero to make it ours." It was: is the foundation sound enough to build on, and can we make it better without breaking what already works for the people relying on it. What "ours" actually means

I didn't invent the number 46 either. It was a registration plate on a motorcycle in 2018, and it meant nothing until I decided it would. That's the whole story — no numerology, no sign from the universe, just a decision made once and then kept, over and over, until the number and I stopped being separate things.

Route46 Couriers works the same way, just faster. We didn't originate the platform. We took responsibility for it, made it genuinely better, and now it's part of the same ecosystem as everything else carrying this name — Stack46, Cinevenn, 46 Dogs. Ownership, in the way that actually matters, isn't about who wrote the first line of code. It's about who's answerable for it now.

Why this fits the way I build

> Suggestion 46 — Pick something. Be boring about it for long enough that other people start doing the remembering for you.

I've said before that consistency creates meaning where none existed originally. Taking over an unfinished or imperfect thing and committing to it properly is the same principle applied to a business instead of a number. Most people abandon something the moment it isn't theirs from the start. I'd rather finish what's worth finishing.
